More information
Wereldmuseum Rotterdam is a museum about cultures in the present and the past. Since 4 September 2020, the renewal has been complete with the opening of the exhibitions Remix Rotterdam and Kruispunt Rotterdam. With the renovation of Wereldmuseum and its new exhibition concept, the city has fully regained its cosmopolitan museum; a modern museum for and by Rotterdam, with its wealth of cultures. At the new Wereldmuseum, you will discover a contemporary museum centred around its own impressive Rotterdam collection. After all, Wereldmuseum is a museum for and by Rotterdam residents.
A collection comprising more than 83,000 objects; items collected by Rotterdam residents since the 19th century. It is precisely in this super-diverse city that the museum, with its global collection, can play a connecting role. Wereldmuseum shows that, differences aside, we are all the same: human.
Sinterklaas at Wereldmuseum
On 5 November, 22 November, 29 November and 6 December, discover everything about Sinterklaas. Discover the story of giving, listen to stories about Sinterklaas and explore how an age-old tradition is constantly changing.
Then it is time to get creative yourself: Make your own Bonne Bonne Bon! Do you know the song ‘Sinterklaasje bonne, bonne, bonne’? Not a gift from a shop, but a voucher for a good deed. Write or draw something kind that you would like to do for someone else, wrap it beautifully and give it as a gift. Because attention is sometimes the greatest gift.
Exhibitions
Kruispunt Rotterdam
In the Kruispunt Rotterdam exhibition, the museum places its collection in a contemporary context. Supplemented with new works by performers, artists and Rotterdam residents inspired by the museum's collection. Like a dialogue between then and now, far away and close by. Kruispunt Rotterdam demonstrates that Rotterdam has always brought the world closer, starting with its (trade) journeys, and that today the city embraces the world within itself, with more than 170 nationalities.
Now on display: new exhibition Art She Crafted
This exhibition is on display from 16 January to 27 September 2026
Art She Crafted shows and celebrates how women around the world, from antiquity to the present day, have shaped art and culture. Their names are often absent from official art history. The exhibition reveals how women were crucial to the development of art and culture in every era and on every continent. It shows how women made structural contributions to periods of cultural flourishing. It also highlights class: not all women had the same access to and resources for art. 0;
In addition to the permanent exhibitions mentioned above, Wereldmuseum Rotterdam also has temporary exhibitions. View them here.
