Curious about everything that goes on inside your body? At CORPUS in Oegstgeest, you will take a unique and interactive journey through the human body. In the iconic building alongside the A44, you will discover how your body works in a surprising way. See, hear and feel what happens when you breathe, eat, move or think. CORPUS is one of the most extraordinary and educational days out in the Netherlands for all ages.

The Poop Factory

During this edition of the CORPUS Kids Academy, you will follow what happens in your tummy. Discover the digestive system, explore the role of your intestines and meet the millions of bacteria that live there. Cut, investigate, crawl, test and follow the route from mouth to toilet.

From knee to brain: experience the ‘journey through the human body’

The experience literally begins in the knee. Via an escalator, you enter the body and travel past various organs and bodily functions. Along the way, you will discover how muscles, bones, senses, lungs, intestines and the brain work together. Marvel at the development of new life, walk through the mouth and experience up close just how remarkable the human body really is. The spectacular ‘journey through the human body’ takes around 55 minutes and takes you from the knee deep into the brain.

A unique experience full of interactive fun

CORPUS is much more than a museum. During the journey, you will be immersed in impressive audiovisual effects, moving installations and interactive elements. In the 5D heart theatre, for example, you will take a dizzying journey as a red blood cell through the heart and circulatory system. You will also breathe along with the lungs, walk through the ear and discover how the brain functions. An experience unlike any other in the Netherlands.

After the journey, the interactive section begins: my CORPUS. Here, you can get hands-on with various exhibits, games and tests. Test your hearing, discover how your brain can sometimes trick you and learn more about health, nutrition and exercise. Thanks to the combination of education and interaction, CORPUS is a fun and educational day out for families, children, school pupils and adults.

CORPUS shows just how extraordinary your own body is. The experience combines science, health and entertainment in an accessible way. This makes it an ideal day out for families, curious children, school pupils and anyone who wants to learn more about the human body. Whether you are interested in biology, health or simply looking for an original day out: CORPUS offers an experience you will not soon forget.

Accessibility 

CORPUS recommends a minimum age of 6, but younger children are also welcome. You know your child better than anyone, so you are best placed to judge whether a visit is suitable for your child. Unfortunately, it is not possible to take a pram or buggy on the ‘journey through the human body’. Babies may take the ‘journey through the human body’ for free in a baby carrier.

Getting to CORPUS

CORPUS is located in Oegstgeest, directly alongside the A44 between The Hague and Amsterdam. Thanks to its central location, the museum is easily accessible by both car and public transport. From Leiden, you can reach CORPUS within minutes, and it is also an ideal destination for a day out from major cities in the Randstad. CORPUS has a covered car park. The first 30 minutes of parking are free. The rate is €12.50 per car. Consult Google Maps for the exact route from your departure point and current departure and travel times.
