In the Veenpark you can experience how the peat workers of South-East Drenthe and their families really lived and worked at the beginning of the 20th century. The Veenpark is the only place in the Netherlands where peat is still cut. The peat cutter, but also the baker, the grocer and the clog maker are at work there every day. With the trains and the peat ship you visit two villages from that time and you go over real raised bog to an old peat excavation. Wij vonden het zeer interessant. Je kan er een dag mee vullen. Leuke manier van informatie vanuit de vrijwilligers. Een stukje Nederlandse geschiedenis dat niet mag worden vergeten!

Het park is ruim opgezet maar erg verouderd en het mist interactie met de bezoekers. Het is zeg maar de Temu van het Openluchtmuseum in Arnhem. Met wat TLC en meer LARP zoals in het Archeon, zou het een geweldig park kunnen zijn.

Jammer dat het groen niet echt bijgehouden was en dat de speeltuin alleen met een grote trap te bereiken sas. Voor kleine kinderen niet prettig.

Mooi park, lekker eten en vriendelijke medewerkers! Enige minpunt: de speeltuin kan wel een update gebruiken, en de toegang naar de speeltuin (over een hoge loopbrug) is niet handig met kleine kinderen of mensen die slecht ter been zijn.
