Good news with stripes: okapi born
An okapi calf was recently born at Antwerp Zoo. After some wiggling, the youngster soon stood up on its typical striped legs. Mother Zaïre welcomed her third offspring, a special event for this endangered species, of which only about 10,000 still live in the wild worldwide.

New spots on the Savannah
The giraffe herd was joined by the arrival of Malwa. This young giraffe immediately stands out due to her lighter coat and smaller stature. At two years old, she brings new life to the savannah zone and is a wonderful addition to the existing group.

Pygmy hippos in the Hippopotamus Building
In addition to Nimba, the male Dabou can now also be seen at the zoo. Together, they form a breeding pair for the pygmy hippopotamus, an endangered species for which Antwerp Zoo is actively committed to conservation and protection.
