Kasteeltuinen Arcen is the Netherlands’ most beautiful flower and plant park. Discover dozens of themed gardens laid out around the historic estate of the 17th-century castle. Stimulate your senses in, among others, the Baroque Rosarium with countless roses, the Water and Sculpture Garden with changing exhibitions, the large lavender field in the Mediterranean Garden and the soothing Oriental Water Garden. Stimulate your senses in dozens of themed gardens
Take a walk through the dozens of themed gardens at Kasteeltuinen Arcen. Discover the diversity of gardens, each with its own unique atmosphere! As you stroll through the park, you will be immersed in scents, colours and soothing water features. Wander through the lush, Baroque Rosarium, enchanting with its 10 rose rooms, where thousands of roses bloom fragrantly amid the centuries-old berceau.

Experience the ultimate holiday feeling in the Mediterranean Garden, with its large lavender field, towering palm trees, old olive trees and the adjacent Plaza Verde boulevard. At Plaza Verde, enjoy a view of beautiful koi through a window into the pond, or relax on the terraces among the bald cypresses with their impressive aerial roots. More of a rhododendron enthusiast? Then explore the magnificent collection in the Rhododendron Garden, in the shade of Arcen Castle. 

The surprising route also takes you to various garden experiences from around the world. The Acer Garden steals the show in autumn, you can wander through the Bamboo Forest, and feel as though you are in Southeast Asia in the Oriental Water Garden with its authentic Thai fishing house. A visit to the Italian garden will inspire you with its Tuscan atmosphere.

Admire centuries-old Arcen Castle
Experience the historical story of the Dukes of Guelders at the 17th-century Arcen Castle. The castle shines on the historic estate, where more buildings breathe rich history: the gatehouse with an armoury full of centuries-old weapons and the Coach House with a restored carriage from 1860. The castle’s bel étage is furnished historically, as its former residents once lived. And be sure to listen to one of the daily concerts by the self-playing grand piano: the pianola!

Accessibility

Kasteeltuinen Arcen is accessible to everyone, including visitors with reduced mobility or those experiencing the park from a wheelchair. Various measures have been taken in the park to ensure visitors can discover the gardens as comfortably as possible. For example, the Castle Courtyard, which is paved with cobblestones, also has a wheelchair-friendly paved path. All food and beverage venues have spacious accessible toilets. A main route runs through the park and can be followed entirely by wheelchair. There are some paths in the park that are inaccessible due to differences in level, and warning signs are posted there. The paths in the park have different surfaces. In the Rosarium and the Valley, these are gravel paths; the gravel layer is deliberately kept as minimal as possible here. 

Getting there 

Kasteeltuinen Arcen is located in Arcen, in northern Limburg, between Venlo and Nijmegen. The picturesque village is close to the German border and just a 10-minute drive from Venlo. If you are travelling by car, you can park your car for €8  Consult Google Maps for the exact route from your departure point and current departure and travel times.
